If you are going to be paddling in cold climates or rough conditions and you want to be able to stay warm and dry, check out the AdvancedFrame Expedition Elite kayak, which has a closed cockpit that can be used with a spray skirt.
The StraitEdge Angler Pro is 20.5kg – if that sounds too heavy for you to carry, consider the lighter StraitEdge kayak.
If you want to be able to take a friend sometimes, the StraitEdge2 Pro kayak has rod holders and can be paddled both solo and tandem.
Although the Angler Pro kayak has the capacity and comfort to do multi-day expeditions, the Expedition Elite kayak is faster and less wind affected.
The side tubes have covers that are made from PVC tarpaulin. This is an ultra-thick, triple layer material that is very difficult to puncture.
The gray patches on the side tubes are additional reinforcement on top to give added protection from abrasions where you might be hauling a fish over the side.
The floor is made from high-quality drop-stitch, with a non-slip mat over the top. Extremely durable and rigid – ideal for kayak fishing.
The kayak is covered by a 3 years warranty from Advanced Elements.

Thick & Durable Materials
In high-use areas for maximum durability
Comfortable and Supportive Seat
The StraitEdge Angler Pro Kayak has a high-backed, adjustable, aluminium folding-frame seat that allows you to sit comfortably for hours.
It’s made of mesh for breathability and quick drying, and it folds up if you want more space to stand.
Drop-Stitch Floor
The high-pressure drop-stitch floor gives you excellent rigidity right up to the 180kg capacity – stand up to cast.
It has a rugged non-slip mat on top for stability, even with wet feet.
Accessory Frames
The StraitEdge Angler Pro kayak comes with both a front AND rear 1-inch accessory frame rails.
Using the Railblaza Bimini Rail Mount, you can clip in your fish finder transducer arm, your rod holders, your action camera, your PLB … whatever you can think of!
Rail mount diameter is 24.6mm / 1 inch.
Motor Mount
Advanced Elements have solved the motor mount problem!
The US slide fin box in the hull allows you to connect the E-propulsion Vaquita battery-powered propeller.
Note – propeller sold separately
Goes Fast and Straight
The patented aluminium rib-frame design reduces yaw (waggling) and helps the kayak cut through the water.
The rigid drop-stitch floor prevents drag to keep your momentum up as you paddle.
The deep water fin (that you can take on or off) will keep you tracking straight and minimises the wind affect.
Huge Capacity
If you are a big guy or gal and you want to load your kayak up with lots of gear, you’ve got 180kg of capacity to work with.
Both of the side tubes have velcro straps for attaching your paddle when not in use.
There are also bungee straps across both the front and rear thwarts for strapping on gear.
AND … there are stainless steel d-rings for drift anchor and stringer attachment.
Simple Set-up
It takes about 8 minutes, 10 if you want to install the rails.
Note that when the kayak is new, the rails are a bit stiff getting through the grommets, but they loosen up with use and with heat.
StraitEdge Angler Pro Kayak FAQs
Performance
It’s not a rocket, like some of our other kayaks, but it’s reasonably fast.
Sit-on-top kayaks are typically slower than sit-in kayaks, and fishing kayaks are notorious for being wide and slow.
So compared to most sit-on-top fishing kayaks it’s fast!
With the fin on, yes, with the fin off, no.
It also depends on your weight. I am very lightweight (54kg), so the front rib doesn’t give me as much tracking support as it could. The kayak tends to waggle a bit when I’m paddling. It’s only a mild waggle, so it doesn’t bother me.
If you are over 80kg, the kayak is going to sit lower in the water and that front rib will help keep you on course.
Yes, it is a bit wind affected.
All kayaks are wind affected to some degree.
You can generally predict how wind affected it’s going to be based on the ratio of kayak above the waterline to kayak below the waterline.
Because it has such a huge capacity (180kg), with me (54kg) in it, the StraitEdge Angler Pro kayak sits quite high above the water, so it gets blown around a bit.
The heavier you are, the less of a problem this is going to be.
Comfort
Hands down, the MOST comfortable inflatable kayak in the world.
The seat is an adjustable aluminium folding frame seat.
This means your bum is lifted off the floor of the kayak – less tension on your hamstrings.
It also means your back is FULLY supported at whatever angle is comfortable for you.
The mesh of the seat means you don’t get all hot and sweaty as you are paddling.
You can move the position of the seat forwards or backwards to get your feet bracing against the front thwart, which supports your lower back.
The front thwart (air bag) acts as a foot brace. You simply move the position of the seat to where your feet meet the thwart. A lot of paddlers swear by foot pegs for encouraging good paddling technique and for supporting the lower back.
The StraitEdge Angler Pro kayak has excellent back support – the seat is an adjustable aluminium folding frame seat – total support at any angle.
The seats base raises you up off the floor so your bum is higher than your heels – this takes the pressure off the lower back.
What is the StraitEdge Angler Pro Kayak good for?
Yes!
The Straitedge Angler Pro Kayak has some awesome features that make it ideal for taking dogs.
This HUGE sit-on-top kayak gives you plenty of open space for your dogs, so they are not cramped into a cockpit.
The PVC tarpaulin material on the main chambers give you the confidence that your dog’s claws will not cause a puncture.
The wide flat hull means the kayak is very stable so you won’t all go over board if your dog gets excited and makes a sudden move (not that they ever do that …).
Yes! The StraitEdge Angler pro has been specifically DESIGNED for kayak fishing.
The StraitEdge Angler Pro Kayak comes with 2 Accessory Frame rails that allow you to attach rod holders and/or other devices with a one inch rail mount.
We recommend the Railblaza Starport Rail Mount with the Railblaza Rod Holder II.
The wide flat hull means the kayak is very stable so you can focus on fishing and relaxing.
The sit-on-top style means you can swing your legs over the side to help reel in a big catch from any angle.
The PVC tarpaulin material is extremely durable, give you the confidence that neither fish nor fishing gear will cause a puncture.
The sides are reinforced for extra protection.
There is plenty of space on board for gear, such as a tackle box, an esky, lunch etc
You can open the ports down the sides to allow the kayak to self bail if you get swamped whilst fishing.
Optional kayak anchor if the fish are biting and you want to stay where you are.
The US fin box on the hull is compatible with the ePropulsion Vaquita propeller.
Yes, definitely.
The StraitEdge Angler Pro kayak makes an excellent tender for a boat.
It’s got the high-pressure drop-stitch floor, which gives you something firm and stable to step on and off of.
It’s a sit-on-top kayak, so you don’t have to get yourself in and out of a cockpit.
It’s suitable for almost all water types, including open ocean.
There’s heaps of space for gear if you are using it to transport your stuff to and from shore.
Note that at 20.4kg, it’s quite heavy, though, and because of the folding frame seat, it takes up a bit more space that our other kayaks.
**Caution – do not leave the kayak inflated on the deck of the boat. The heat will cause the pressure to rise and you could damage the kayak.
Anything from 1 hour to a multi-day expedition.
Although it is quite comfortable for a multi-day expedition and there is a lot of space for gear, it’s not as fast as the AdvancedFrame Expedition Elite kayak. But if you want to fish on the way, it’s still a better choice!
Yes.
The StraitEdge Angler Pro kayak is a self-bailing sit-on-top kayak.
This means there are ports in the hull that you can leave closed in calm water, to stay dry, or open up for whitewater or choppy open water.
When the ports are open, water that sloshes over the kayak can drain out, so you can never be swamped.
No.
It is certainly capable of mild whitewater (up to class 2), especially if you leave the fin off.
But generally speaking it is designed for flat or coastal water.
Who is the StraitEdge Angler Pro Kayak good for?
Absolutely, yes!
The key feature for beginners is stability and the StraitEdge Angler Pro is so stable, you can sleep in it (but don’t …)
When the fin is installed, it’s super-easy to paddle straight, no experience necessary.
The only thing to watch out for is that it is fairly heavy (20.4kg). It’s not critical for beginners to have a lightweight kayak, but it certainly make the experience easier.
It’s certainly stable enough and easy to paddle, but at 20.4kg you would have to be a very strong senior to carry it by yourself.
No, the StraitEdge Angler Pro is a big and heavy kayak and would be difficult for a child to paddle on their own.
I would suggest looking at our lightweight kayaks instead.
Yes, the Straitedge Angler Pro kayak is super-easy to get in and out of.
It is a sit-on-top kayak, so there is no cockpit to fold yourself into.
The drop-stitch floor becomes rigid when inflated, so you have something firm to push against.
It’s very stable, so you can flop in and roll out if you have to!
Yes.
I cannot emphasise just how BIG this kayak is.
If you need more leg room, simply move the seat back by adjusting the straps.
The maximum capacity is 180kg.
If you’re on the heavy side, just make sure you put the maximum pressure into the drop-stitch floor (6 PSI) to get the best rigidity possible.
About the StraitEdge Angler Pro Kayak
Advanced Elements have been making inflatable kayaks for well over 20 years – you don’t have to worry about quality.
All kayaks are inflated at the factory and left for 24 hours to ensure there are no slow leaks.
The main material used is called PVC tarpaulin and it is super thick and tough.
It can handle dog claws, fish hooks, rocks and even oysters.
In the extremely rare case that you do get a puncture, the kayak comes with a repair kit, so you can put on a patch.
The StraitEdge Angler Pro kayak is a sit-on-top kayak, with self-bailing ports.
* note: the StraitEdge2 Pro kayak is shows in the picture
If the water is calm, you can leave the ports closed and stay dry.
If the conditions are rough, you can open the ports, allowing water that comes over the sides to drain out.
The downsides of sit-on-top kayaks is that they are often slower and more wind affected than sit-in kayaks, and you get wet.
The upsides of sit-on-top kayak is that they have heaps of space, you don’t feel enclosed, they can do a huge variety of water types.
At 20.4kg, the StraitEdge Angler Pro Kayak is fairly heavy for a solo.
It paddles well, you just want to make sure you are able to lift that weight.
A detachable fin is included.
If you want to go straight in flat water, attach the fin.
If you want to paddle in shallow water, leave the fin off.
There is no rudder on the StraitEdge Angler Pro kayak, and the Rudder Kit we sell is NOT compatible with this kayak.
Note that the StraitEdge Angler Pro kayak is easy to paddle, tracks well with the fin on and is not very wind affected, so you are not likely to need a rudder.
Yes, the StraitEdge Angler Pro kayak has a US Slide Fin Box, so the ePropulsion Vaquita propeller can be clipped directly into the fin box.
No.
The StraitEdge Angler Pro kayak is a sit-on-top style kayak, there is no cockpit to attach a spray skirt to.
• 2x Accessory Frame System

All kayaks are inflated and left overnight on the factory floor to ensure they are fully functional before shipping out.
How to use the StraitEdge Angler Pro Kayak
You can review the instruction manual here:
StraitEdge Angler Pro Kayak Manual
But my strong recommendation is that you take a look at the setup video:
It’s about 8 minutes, 10 if you want to install the rails.
You just take off the valve covers and set the valves to deflate. Walk away for a few minutes and it’s done.
You can use the deflate function of the pump if you want to, but I have never found this to be necessary.
The StraitEdge Angler Pro kayak is mostly PVC, which means you can use a towel to wipe off any water.
Fold it as per the folding instructions in the manual and it then goes back into the bag pretty easily.
It’s okay to store it a little bit wet for a day or so, but if you are going to be storing it for longer, make sure it’s completely dry.
What to buy
• Drop-stitch Floor
• 2 Accessory Frames
• AirFrame PRO Seat
• Duffel Bag w/ Shoulder Straps
• Owner’s Manual
• Repair Kit
• Double Action Hand Pump with Gauge
• Fin
You need to purchase a paddle and a life jacket as the minimum.
You can also purchase a paddle leash so you don’t lose your paddle!
We also recommend a dry-bag for keeping your gear dry.
Check out our Fishing Gear section if you want to do some kayak fishing, but we specifically recommend the Railblaza Starport Rail Mount and the Railblaza Rod Holder II.
The Cooper Kayak Anchor is also a firm favourite with kayak anglers.
Any double bladed kayak paddle will work, but I would strongly suggest getting a LONG one, so you can easily get over the side tubes. Ours start at 230cm.
*Note Double Action Hand Pump with Gauge is included.
I would strongly suggest you use our Double Action Hand Pump with Gauge – it has exactly the right adapters and is capable of inflating the drop-stitch floor to the maximum pressure.

Overall impressed with its robustness. BUT as others have noted really bad having all the different inflate adaptors. Secondly the seat straps dont cut it. Flimsy. Was disappointed to buy right before a substantial discount was offered.

Angler pro write up.

Fun, Compact, Easy setup
Have had the StraitEdge Angler Pro for a couple of years now. Its is compact enough to fit in a standard sedan boot, set up in a few minutes and most of all very fun to use. Its very stable and glides quite well. I am a bigger bloke and the kayak doesn't care :). If I had to be picky: - I would suggest that all the inflation connection be one type across the whole kayak. Pump works fine, maybe a 12v pump would be more efficient. - Perhaps more accessories or third party accessories for the accessory frame rail, like rod holders, go pro brackets, brackets for fish finder etc. All in all, I am very happy with the purchase. The deliver and customer service was excellent. Emily's personal recommendations are very good. Really appreciated the video.
Kayak good. Inflation system a joke
The kayak itself seems good, although I haven't got it into the water yet. However the inflation system is an embarrassment. There are five different inflation chambers which is fine. However, the floor uses a standard paddle board inflation connection but the other four use a non-standard connection that seems to be and advanced elements proprietary system. There is no design reason for this, and using two different connection systems on the one craft is simply poor design, requiring multiple pumps or (easily lost) pump connectors. I presume the main objective is simply so that you have to buy their ****** hand pumps. Very poor.
Oz Inflatable Kayaks
I agree, it is annoying to have to change adapters. There is a design reason for this, but nevertheless, it is valid feedback and it is already on Advanced Element's radar (from me complaining, lol). Both types of adapters should be attached to the hand pump AND in the repair kit of the kayak, so hopefully you will always have an adapter on hand. If you lose one, just get in touch, we have a stash. Are you having a problem with the hand pump? They are extremely reliable, so please get in touch if there is an issue. Cheers, Emily.
My StraightEdge Angler Pro purchase
I've only used it once so far but found it easy to set up and go despite not having kayaked for decades. Your recommendation on this model for me was excellent, versatility to store on my larger boat or throw in the back of the car perfect. Purchasing and delivery a breeze, highly recommended, might look into that electic motor in th future.
Great Kayak
Overall experience is good, easy to transport and assemble - handles well in the water. However the seat included has very weak buckles and already have replaced them twice. These should be metal not the weak plastics used
Kayak is so much lighter!
I can't tell the difference between this kayak and my hard-shell, except that it's so much lighter! I feel safe in it, because you can see the quality. Compared to most inflatables, it's quite solid I wanted something a bit heavier so it wouldn't be so wind affected. But compared to my hard-shell fishing kayak, it's so much easier to carry and transport. If you want to go kayak fishing on Wallis Lake at Forster Tuncurry, there are plenty of easy, sandy entry points with nearby parking. I launched near Waterline Boathouse on Little street, where there is plenty of on-street parking and sandy beaches. There is a nice grassy area for inflating the kayak. There are plenty of sand islands on the way if you want to stop for a picnic. The flathead is good!
Inflatable fun on the water
Such a great kayak, easy to set up and put away. Handles very well on the water, seat very comfortable. Love it can't wait to get out on it again.
Great package for my RV
I have an RV and was looking for a means of taking a kayak. Not able to fit on roof or back of RV due to other fixtures and this package fits perfectly inside RV. Very happy
