Lightweight for Easy Handling
Lightweight kayak at only 10.8kg.
The total weight, including the bag, the Nano Barrel Pump and the Alpine Lake Paddle is only 14 kg.
Packs up to 53cm x 40cm x 25cm.
Easy to Clean and Dry
The Platte is full PVC with a removable floor, so you can get a towel and wipe it down.
The only fabric item is the seat, which you can dry separately.
Great for Long Legs
The seat position is adjustable and the kayak is quite long inside – plenty of room for long legs.
Drop-Stitch Floor
Gives you excellent rigidity for speed.
Open - Sit-on-top Style
The Platte is a Sit-on-top kayak – stable, easy access, good for beginners, dogs, and kids.
It is, however, quite a slim kayak inside – only 40cm hip-to-hip, so if you are a “wide” person, you will need something more spacious, like the AdvancedFrame Sport Elite kayak.
Dual Fin System for Enhanced Tracking
The Kokopelli Platte uses a large rear fin and a smaller front fin to keep the kayak tracking straight on flat water.
Supportive Seat is Cool and Comfortable
The Platte features a supportive EVA moulded foam seat.
The diamond design keeps you cool and the thick straps support your back.
Foot Brace
The lightweight foot block can be attached to support your lower back when power is needed.
Fabric Rod Holder
The Platte features a Fabric Rod Holder behind the seat
Oversized Mesh Bag
The Kokopelli Platte comes in a handy XL Animas River Bag
Set up
The Kokopelli Platte inflatable kayak is very quick and simple to set up.
I recommend purchasing an electric pump – the Nano pump that is included is good quality but has a very small barrell and therefore takes a while to inflate.
Durable and Reliable
The hull and tube covers are constructed from high quality 1000d PVC.
The 20 2.5cm D-rings are made from stainless steel.
Kokopelli Platte Kayak FAQs
Performance
It’s not a rocket, but it’s satisfying to paddle.
The high-pressure drop-stitch floor (included) gives you excellent rigidity, so you glide through the water gracefully.
The wind affect is moderate on the Platte.
The waterline is not as long as our AdvancedFrame range, but the side tubes are not huge, and the dual fin system keeps it on track pretty well.
Comfort
What is the Kokopelli Platte Kayak good for?
Yes, if they are not massive.
The Kokopelli Platte kayak is not wide inside, but it is quite long and has an open sit-on-top style, so there might be enough space for both of you, depending on the size of the dog (and you).
The drop-stitch floor inside the kayak is super tough, you do not need any reinforcement.
The wide flat hull means the kayak is very stable so you won’t all go over board if your dog gets excited and makes a sudden move (not that they ever do that …).
Yes.
The wide flat hull means the kayak is very stable so you can focus on fishing and relaxing.
The 1000d PVC material is extremely durable, give you the confidence that neither fish nor fishing gear will cause a puncture.
There is a fabric rod holder behind the seat, but if you are doing to be fishing regularly, I recommend the accessory frame it allows you to attach high-quality rod holders, an EPERB, a fish finder, go-pro etc.
Optional kayak anchor if the fish are biting and you want to stay where you are.
You can even put on a propeller – the ePropulsion Vaquita.
Yes.
The Kokopelli Platte kayak is good for taking kids, as long as they are still small.
It’s super-stable, so the kids can have a nap and muck around without tipping it over.
The kayak is not wide inside, but it is quite long and has the open sit-on-top style, so there’s likely to be enough room for both of you, as long as it’s a small child.
Yes, it’s a very good choice for a tender.
It’s got the high-pressure drop-stitch floor which makes it easy to step into and out of.
The open sit-on-top style also makes it easy to step in and out of.
It’s not our biggest kayak, but there is still quite a bit capacity (150kg) for gear if you are using it to transport your stuff to and from shore.
**Caution – do not leave the kayak inflated on the deck of the boat. The heat will cause the 1pressure to rise and you could damage the kayak.
NOTE – The Kokopelli Platte kayak is NOT recommended for open ocean.
It’s good for a few hours.
Longer than that, and you need a better performing kayak, like the AirFusion EVO Kayak.
No.
The manufacturer’s guides are that the Platte is suitable for:
- Flat water
- Bays and inlets
- Rivers up to Class 1
No.
The Kokopelli Platte Kayak is fine for class 1 rivers, according to the manufacturer.
Who is the Kokopelli Platte Kayak good for?
Yes!
This is an AWESOME kayak for beginners!
The key feature for beginners is stability and the Kokopelli Platte Kayak is wonderfully stable, so no dramas there.
The dual fin system makes it easy to paddle straight.
At 10.8kgs it’s light enough for most people to lift.
The sit-on-top style makes it easy for people to get in and out.
In my experience, seniors are looking for a lightweight kayak, and at 10.8kg, the Kokopelli Platte kayak is fairly lightweight.
We have other kayaks that are lighter, but the Kokopelli Platte does give a great balance of versatility and performance. So if you think you can handle the weight, it’s a great choice for seniors.
The other key features for seniors are stability and ease of getting in and out – the Kokopelli Platte kayak ticks both of these boxes.
The Kokopelli Platte inflatable kayak is suitable for a child to paddle because it is lightweight and easy to paddle.
The only issue might be that they might be too short to reach the foot rest.
Probably – we haven’t tested it with somebody really tall yet, but it is VERY long internally and you can adjust the seat straps to bring the seat closer to the front of the kayak, or further back in the cockpit to give you more leg room.
Be careful with the width, though – the Kokopelli Platte is only 40cm across on the inside and would be too narrow for a lot of people.
The maximum capacity is 150kgs according to the manufacturer.
We haven’t yet tested this kayak on the higher weight ranges, but I don’t think it will be a practical option for large paddlers because it is simply too narrow inside (only 40cm from hip to hip when sitting).
About the Kokopelli Platte Kayak
The Kokopelli Platte is a solo kayak – this means it has seating for only 1 person.
Although it is spacious, you could NOT fit two adults in it.
Taking a small child with you is totally viable though.
Deflated and packed dimensions are:
53 cm x 40 cm x 25 cm
The weight of everything, including paddle, pump and bag is 17kg.
At 10.8 kg (14 kg with the included accessories), the Kokopelli Platte Kayak is lightweight compared to a hard-shell kayak, but not our lightest kayak.
Most people can carry it down to the water by themselves.
But if you are not feeling strong, it might be better to look for one of our lightweight kayaks.
Yes, the ePropulsion Vaquita can be used with the SUP fin-box connection.
• EVA molded foam confortable seat
• Drop-stitch 1000d Reinforced PVC
• Stainless Steel D-rings
• Two sets of gear loops to secure rods and paddles
• Adjustable bungee straps on the bow and stern cargo areas
• Self-bailing floor
The Kokopelli Platte Kayak is manufacted by Kokopelli across various locations in Asia.

How to use the Kokopelli Platte Kayak
It’s about 7.5 minutes, once you have got the hang of it.
You just take off the valve covers and set the valves to deflate. Then just walk away for a few minutes and it’s done.
You can use the deflate function of the pump if you want to, but I have never found this to be necessary.
The pack away takes about 8 minutes and 13 seconds.
Pull out the seat, the foot brace and the drop-stitch floor.
Use a towel to wipe down the kayak.
Fold the kayak up and put everything in the mesh bag.
What to buy
• Alpine Lake Paddle (4-Piece, non-featherable)
• Nano Barrel Pump
• EVA Seat
• Drop-Stitch Floor
• Foot Brace
• Repair Kit
• 2x Removable Fins
• XL Animas River Bag
• Owners manual
You need to purchase a life jacket at a minimum.
You can also purchase a paddle leash so you don’t lose your paddle!
We also recommend a dry bag for keeping your gear dry.
Check out our Fishing Gear section if you want to do some kayak fishing.
The Kokopelli Platte Kayak comes with the Alpine Lake Paddle. This is a nice 4-part paddle with a fibreglass shaft, but unfortunately the blades are not featherable.
Check out our range of featherable, collapsible kayak paddles.
The Kokopelli Platte kayak comes with the Nano Barrel Double Action Hand Pump with Gauge.
If you want to speed up the process (the nano barrel pump is small and therefore slow), I recommend the Flextail Max Pump 2 Pro
