Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak

Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak

A full drop-stitch kayak that holds its line in windy conditions - it’s a miracle!
This is an incredibly popular design, enhanced with drop-stitch keels at both the bow and stern for amazing tracking. We have made it a little wider than similar models on the market so it is stable and spacious enough for kids, dogs, gear and long legs.

Available for backorder, stock ETA 8th of October

Why this kayak?

  • Fast - full drop-stitch rigidity - like a hard-shell kayak without the weight
  • Tracks straight - glides beautifully courtesy of the drop-stitch keels
  • Huge - luxuriously spacious and can take a lot of weight
  • Open deck - very useful for dogs, kids, and people that don't like that enclosed feeling
  • Stable - great for dogs, kids and fishing
  • Awesome foot and back support - foot pegs and cushioned seat included
  • Simple set-up
  • Propeller compatible - ready for a fin-mounted motor

Who is this kayak NOT for?

  • At 15.2kg, the Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is not our lightest inflatable kayak. If you would like a lighter sit-on-top inflatable kayak, check out the Quest Solo Kayak - it’s only 12.2kg (including seat and foot pegs).
  • Although the Odyssey is very stable for paddling, the side walls make it a little unstable for getting in and out of. If you are worried about getting in and out, check out the Quest Solo Kayak - it’s so easy, you can literally flop in and out of it.
  • If you live in a cold climate or will be paddling in rough conditions, you may wish to consider a sit-in kayak that you can put a spray skirt on, such as the AdvancedFrame Elite or the AdvancedFrame Expedition Elite (if you have long legs).
  • It is totally possible to fish from the Odyssey - it’s stable, durable and you can use the Adhesive Starport Mount to attach the Rod Holder II. But if you are going to be doing a LOT of fishing, check out the Quest Angler Inflatable kayak or the iATAK 110 Inflatable Fishing Kayak. They have already been customised for kayak fishing.
  • The Odyssey is an open-deck kayak with no bail ports. If you are doing activities that involve water coming in like snorkleing or whitewater, consider the StraitEdge kayak which is a self-bailing kayak, suitable up to class 3 whitewater.

What is included?

  • Inflatable Kayak and SUP Hand Pump

Fast - Full Drop-Stitch Rigidity Without the Weight

All of the chambers in the Odyssey are high pressure drop-stitch, giving you excellent rigidity - no bending or buckling.

The hull really slices through the water. It’s like having a hard-shell canoe-style kayak, but only 15.2 kg (including seat and foot pegs).

Specification Image

Excellent Tracking - Unique Hull Design

The unique drop-stitch keels in the bow and stern of the Odyssey are very effective at keeping the kayak tracking in a straight line, even without the fin.

We have also ensured your centre of gravity is as far forward as possible, so that the bow keel is IN the water, not poking out - this dramatically improves tracking in general and especially in wind.

Specification Image

Hull Shape - Not Like Other Kayaks

There are other full drop-stitch kayaks on the market and some of them have hard plastic keels on the bow and stern.

These keels do not angle deep enough and are therefore often OUT of the water, achieving nothing.

The drop-stitch keels of the Odyssey go DOWN from the hull, INTO the water and are amazingly effective for tracking.

Specification Image

Huge - Great for Big People and Big Adventures

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is luxuriously spacious and can take a lot of weight.

If you are very tall, you will fit, just loosen the front seat straps and move the foot pegs to the far end.

You’ve got a whopping 50cm of width to work with, which is wider than similar kayaks on the market.

The Odyssey kayak is 360cm long and you can use ALL of the internal space for storage - wonderful for multi-day expeditions.

There is plenty of room for taking dogs and kids.

Specification Image

Open Deck

There is no deck cover on the Odyssey, which is very useful for dogs and kids, and people that don’t like that enclosed feeling.

The side chambers are high enough to prevent splash coming in, except for extreme conditions, but you may get drips inside the kayak from your paddle.

Specification Image

Stable - Great for Dogs and Kids

Most full drop-stitch kayaks are quite narrow and feel tippy - we don’t generally recommend them for dogs, kids, or fishing.

The Odyssey, however, is wider and therefore much more stable.

I feel comfortable recommending the Odyssey kayak for kids, dogs and fishing, however, the side walls mean it is not as easy to get in and out of as the Quest range of kayaks. But once you’re in, it’s happy paddling!

Specification Image

Awesome Foot and Back Support

The adjustable foot pegs allow you to use your whole body in the paddling motion.

Not only is a cushioned, high-backed seat supplied, we have placed the D-rings very high on the side chambers - this height helps support your lumbar significantly more than lower-placed D-rings.

The seat comes with a 5cm cushion in the base that can be removed. The cushion gives you an easier paddling motion, but removing the cushion gives you better stability - either way the choice is yours.

Specification Image

Simple Set Up

I’ve set up a lot of kayaks in my time, and honestly, it doesn’t get much simpler than this.

3 chambers - same pressure, same valve type.
Although we have provided a fin, you don’t need to clip it in, the fin box is there for use with a propeller.

10 PSI takes a lot of pumping with a manual pump, though, I would DEFINITELY recommend an electric pump.

Specification Image

Propeller Compatible - Zoom Zoom!

Although the Odyssey does not require a fin, we have provided a fin box on the hull, primarily so you can clip in a fin-box propeller.

The kayak is stable enough for the propeller and easy to steer with your paddle.

Quality Materials and Manufacturing

The Jaspara range of kayaks are manufactured using top-quality components by amazing dedicated staff. All kayaks are inflated and left for a 7 day period to ensure there are no leaks before packing. We have personally tested the kayaks to determine the positioning of vital components such as handles, seats, D-rings and foot pegs all in an effort to make sure that when you paddle a Jaspara kayak, you have a great experience paddling a comfortable and well balanced watercraft.

Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak FAQ

Wowser fast!

The high-pressure drop-stitch chambers give you excellent rigidity, this kayak really cuts through the water beautifully.

Yes!

The tracking is excellent.

Yes and no.

Directionally, it holds it's line quite well in wind, thanks to the drop-stitch bow and stern keels.

But the side walls sit somewhat high above the waterline, so the kayak will get blown by the wind.

The seat (included) has an extra-stiff high back, and the D-rings have been placed high on the side walls, so you get very good lumbar support.

The seat includes a detachable foam bum cushion. Sitting higher makes the paddling action a little easier, but sitting lower gives you better stability - your choice.

There are adjustable foot pegs included. Being able to brace your feet as you paddle greatly reduces the strain on your back.

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak comes with a set of adjustable foot pegs. Being able to brace your feet as you paddle greatly reduces the strain on your back.

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak has very good back support – the seat back is high and extra-stiff with adjustable straps to get the angle right. It also has a detachable foam bum cushion.

Yes!

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is ideal for taking dogs.

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is very spacious and has an open cockpit, which means customers can easily fit dogs.

The drop-stitch floor inside the kayak is super tough, you do not need any reinforcement.

The wide flat hull means the kayak is very stable so you won’t all go over board if your dog gets excited and makes a sudden move (not that they ever do that …).

Yes.

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is very spacious and has an open cockpit, which gives you plenty of room for gear that is easily accessible.

The wide flat hull means the kayak is very stable so you can focus on fishing and relaxing.

The drop-stitch PVC is extremely durable, giving you the confidence that neither fish nor fishing gear will cause a puncture.

Optional Railblaza Starport Rod Holder II and RailBlaza Starport Adhesive Mount can be attached to the drop-stitch floor.

Optional kayak anchor if the fish are biting and you want to stay where you are.

Yes.

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is great for taking kids!

It’s super-stable, so the kids can have a nap and muck around without tipping it over.

It’s very big and has a wide-open cockpit, so there’s heaps of space.

Yes.

The full drop-stitch rigidity and the open style cockpit make it ideal for stepping onto from a boat.

It’s fast and comfortable enough for anything from 1 hour to a full-day trip.

It’s even great for multi-day expeditions, however it has an open cockpit so you will likely get wet.

Not really, because there is no spray deck to keep swamping waves out, and the kayak does not have bail ports, so any water that gets inside the kayak is staying in there.

If you are considering paddling in rough conditions, the Kayak Bilge Pump is recommended.

No.

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is fine for class 1 and 2 whitewater, however it is really designed to paddle in a straight line, and therefore not recommended for rivers above class 2.

Yes, it is definitely suitable for beginners.

The key feature for beginners is stability and the Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is wonderfully stable, so no dramas there.

The hull design makes it super-easy to paddle straight, even if you've never paddled before.

Just be aware that although the Odyssey is stable once you are in it, it is not as easy to get in and out of as the Quest range of kayaks.

Good question.

In my experience, seniors are looking for a lightweight kayak, and at 15.2kg, the Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is not our lightest tandem kayak (although it's not our heaviest either). It's ultimately up to you to determine whether you can comfortably and easily lift 15.2kg down to the water.

The other key features for seniors are stability and ease of getting in and out – the Odyssey Tandem Inflatable Kayak is extremely stable once you're in it, but the side walls can make it a little tricky to get in an out of. If you want a kayak you can just "flop" in and out of, check out the Quest Solo Inflatable Kayak.

No, the Odyssey kayak is really too big for kids to paddle on their own.

If you're looking for a kayak to get your child started, check out our Lightweight Kayaks.

It's wide and stable with a wide-open cockpit, but the side walls make it a little more difficult to get in and out of than our Quest Solo Inflatable Kayak.

Yes, the Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is LONG inside.

You can adjust the seat straps to bring the seat closer to the front of the kayak, or further back in the cockpit to give you more leg room.

The maximum capacity is 180kg.

Note that this is the total capacity, including gear. We recommend the max paddler weight of 150kg so there is not too much weight all on one spot.

The Jaspara range of kayaks is crafted using premium-quality PVC drop-stitch and assembled by a dedicated team.

Each kayak is fully inflated and left for a period of 7 days to ensure it remains leak-free before packaging.

We've personally tested and carefully positioned essential components—such as handles, seats, D-rings, and foot pegs—to guarantee comfort, stability, and an optimal paddling experience.

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is a sit-on-top kayak with a wide-open cockpit.

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is a solo kayak – this means it has seating for 1 person.

Deflated and packed dimensions are:

113cm x 49cm x 38cm

The kayak weight is 15.2kg (kayak + fin + seats + foot pegs), the entire bag is 20kg.

At 15.2kg, the Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is not our lightest solo kayak, but also not our heaviest.

You would have to be reasonably strong to carry it down to the water by yourself when inflated.

If you want to make it easier to transport, I would suggest getting the C-tug Kayak Cart this allows you to wheel the kayak to the water and then you can easily stow the cart on the deck.

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is very stable once you are in it, however it is a little wobbly getting in and out of.

There is a detachable fin that comes with the kayak, but you do not need to use it, the kayak tracks very well without it.

We included the fin so you would be able to use the fin box on the kayak to attach a propeller (yee haw!).

Yes - the Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak includes a removable slide-and-lock fin via the fin box underneath. It does not have a rudder.

No.

  • Drop-Stitch Keels (bow and stern)
  • Fin box on hull
  • D-ring for paddle leash

  • Bow AND stern deck lifts
  • Bow and stern padded handles
  • Central internal padded handles
  • Solo positioning for seat and foot pegs

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is full drop-stitch.

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is manufactured by Jaspara (an Australian company), in our factory in China.

All kayaks are inflated and left for 7 days on the factory floor to ensure they are fully functional before shipping out.

Unroll the kayak and ensure the bung is screwed in tight.

Start inflating the floor chamber to 10PSI (12V Kayak and SUP Pump highly recommended).

Insert the foot pegs (optional).

Insert the deck lifts (optional).

Inflate both side chambers to 10 PSI.

Clip in the seats.

Close the valve caps on the 3 chambers.

It should take you around 6.5 minutes, once you have got the hang of it.

It’s about 6.5 minutes with the 12V Kayak and SUP Pump, once you have got the hang of it.
Pack Away Time is around 5:00 minutes

Take off the valve covers and set the valves to deflate. Walk away for a few minutes to let the kayak deflate.

Remove the seat, foot pegs, deck lifts and fin (if used).

You can use the deflate function of the pump if you want.

Fold the bow to one side and roll up the kayak.

When you get to the valves, fold the stern in the same direction as the bow and roll in.

Use the strap provided to sinch the kayak tight.

Put everything back in the bag.

Open the bung of the kayak and hold the kayak upright and face down to let the water drain out.

You are welcome to use a hose with this kayak if you want to.

You can either air dry or dry with a towel.

Pack up as per the instructions.

Yes, it DOES go back in the bag!

  • Inflatable Kayak and SUP Hand Pump
  • Rubix Kayak Seat
  • 2 x Splash-Guards
  • 2 x Foot Pegs
  • Removable Fin
  • Repair Kit

You need to purchase a paddle and a life jacket as the minimum.

It is definitely worth getting the 12V Kayak and SUP Pump, it will save you heaps of time and effort.

You can purchase a paddle leash so you don’t lose your paddle!

We also recommend a dry-bag for keeping your gear dry.

Check out our Fishing Gear section if you want to do some kayak fishing.

Jaspara gives a 3-year warranty on all kayaks and a 90-day warranty on all accessories.

No.

Above expectations

These kayaks are simple to set up, sturdy, track straight and very easy to paddle along. I could not be happier with our choice and the great advice given prior to our purchase. I would highly recommend the kayak and the whole purchase experience.

Advancedframe Expedition Elite Kayak

The Advancedframe Expedition Elite Kayak is extremely well thought out and put together. Every aspect seems to have been catered for. My first experience on the water in the Expedition Elite was very memoriable and 6 hours of paddling seemed to pass in the blink of an eye... If storage and transport is a problem for you I would highly recommend the Advanceframe Expedition Elite Kayak and would highly recommend purchasing from oz inflatable kayaks as Emily was wonderful to deal with and was very knowledgeable and answered every question I threw at her and the service was second to none.

Super slick design and a pleasure to use

This kayak is an excellent design and makes kayaking very accessible for a newbie like me; it's beautiful to use on the water - super stable and comfortable to paddle - and easy to inflate once you know the process. It opens up a whole new range of activities for my camping holidays with kids and friends and can be packed into a boot or trailer as a foldable inflatable product... I could also easily fit my 13 yo and 10 yo into the kayak with me and enjoy it as a family...
