Took Jacob out for his first spin on the old Advanced Frame Inflatable Kayak today, and boy was he blown away.
After his unpleasant experience (back pain) on the hard shell kayak in Halong Bay, he thought the Advanced Frame Inflatable Kayak was luxuriously comfortable.
We put the kayaks in at Austin Gilchrist Park in Chevron Island – there is a tiny beach there and a tap for hosing the kayaks down at the end.
We headed north around the eastern side of Chevron Island, going with the outbound tide.
I stopped for a quick swim at Budds Beach because it was a very hot day and the water was lovely and warm. We were both pleased to see how much seagrass was growing there.
We then headed down Jariparilla Cove, under the Gold Coast highway to go around MacIntosh Island. This is a favourite area of mine because the water is always so calm – it is sheltered from the wind and it’s not a thoroughfare for boats.
Back under the highway we stopped again at a little sandy beach near the Sundale bridge to wait for the tide to turn – I couldn’t resist yet another swim.
There was a bit of chop going past TSS and heading around to the west of Chevron Island, but nothing the Advanced Frame couldn’t handle.
Soon we were on the South side of Chevron and the water was beautiful and still again.
