Jacob and I went kayaking on Biggera Creek – one of the Gold Coast’s finest waterways … lol!
Actually, Biggera Creek is nice, with clear water and sandy beaches. It links into the Runaway Bay canal system, so we were able to do a loop – I LOVE finding paddling circuits in the Gold Coast canals.
I went out in the AdvancedFrame Sport kayak – my favourite.
And Jacob (below) headed out in his favourite, the AdvancedFrame Expedition inflatable kayak.
They are both great kayaks from Advanced Elements – the AdvancedFrame Sport is very lightweight and quick to set up, whereas the AdvancedFrame Expedition is faster.
We saw some odd sights, including a paddle steamer (who doesn’t have one of these???) …
…and Ronald McDonald…
Coming around the bend, we relaxed in our super-comfy kayaks for a lunch break, gazing at the mountains of Springbrook National Park (you can just see them in this picture if you squint).
I had a toilet stop near the sandy mouth of Biggera Creek and couldn’t resist taking a picture of my sexy AdvancedFrame Sport kayak…
As we paddled out to the Broadwater at Land’s End, the tide was coming out so fast, there were whirlpools under the bridge!
And then we were back to our sandy beach at Pacific Park.
Here is Jacob tearing it up in his AdvancedFrame Expedition kayak:

Kayaking on Biggera Creek on the Gold Coast
If you want to go kayaking on Biggera Creek on the Gold Coast, here are the details:
We launched from the sandy beach at Pacific Park on Oatland Esplanade, Biggera Waters. There is plenty of parking available.
We headed north and entered the Runaway Bay canal system, but you could easily do it the other way around.
You can see our loop on the map below. The canals give you plenty of opportunities to make it a bit longer if you want.
We took about 3.5 hours to do this circuit at a very leisurely pace.
The AdvancedFrame Sport and AdvancedFrame Expedition inflatable kayaks are perfect for us because:
- They are both super comfortable – wonderful for relaxing
- The Sport is lightweight – easy for me to handle on my own
- The Expedition is fast – Jacob loves to zoom along
- They are both very durable – we don’t have to worry about submerged obstacles in creeks
BUT, they might not be the right kayaks for you.
It’s a lot of money down the drain if you get the wrong model, so it’s worth asking for my advice!

About Oz Inflatable Kayaks
Hi, my name is Emily and over a decade ago I thought to myself “gee, I would really love to go kayaking … if only I had a big strong butler to help me get a kayak on and off roof racks. Oh, and several thousand dollars for the kayak and the roof racks (not to mention the cost of the butler)”.
To find a way to go paddling without a heavy hard-shell kayak, I started looking into inflatable kayaks. But I did NOT want a pool toy.
The Advanced Elements range of inflatable kayaks really blew me away (excuse the terrible pun).
I realised that the quality was not just about durability, it also meant that the kayaks were comfortable and easy to paddle straight and fast.
It just so happens that I was also looking for a business opportunity at the same time…
Nowadays I specialise (and delight) in selling Advanced Elements inflatables to all kinds of people in Australia.
I know the range so well that I do personalised recommendation videos to help people choose the right kayak.
It’s a no-obligation service that I enjoy doing AND it helps me in the long run because my customers that get a recommendation get the right kayak, first time. They are HAPPY customers!
So if you are even vaguely thinking about kayaking, get in touch or get your FREE personalised kayak recommendation now.
