Anyone who wants a lightweight kayak (only 10kg!!!) but also wants to stay warm and dry by putting on a spray skirt.
Although the max capacity is officially 113kg and the max paddler height is 6’2″, the Lagoon 1 kayak is fairly small and lightweight, so it is best suited to small-to-medium sized people. This, of course, makes it a great choice for kids.
The Lagoon 1 kayak is stable and durable enough for dogs and fishing, but the cockpit is small and fixed (can’t be unzipped to make more room), so it might be a bit small.
Comfort
The seat is supportive and the inflatable cushion gives you a good high position to paddle from.
The inflatable coaming around the cockpit allows you to attach a spray skirt so you can stay warm and dry when you are paddling.
Performance
The Lagoon 1 kayak is a recreational kayak. It’s very nimble and responds quickly, but doesn’t track straight and fast like a touring kayak.
The fin on the hull helps reduce the waggle, as do the rigid forms in the hull a the bow.
It’s fun and relaxing for a few hours, but I wouldn’t be setting out on a multi-day expedition anytime soon.
Durability
The hull is PVC tarpaulin, so you are pretty safe going over rocks etc.
The inner tube has 2 chambers for safety and is protected by tube covers.
Overall, a very tough kayak.
Set up and Storage
At only 10kg, the Lagoon 1 kayak is not just lightweight, it is also our most compact kayak. If space is an issue, it’s a great option.
Setup is quick and easy – about 5 minutes from in the bag to on the water.
