What type of conditions is the AdvancedFrame kayak suitable for?

The AdvancedFrame is designed to be a day touring type boat, for flat or open water. The bow and stern have a rigid semi-frame that gives it a hard edge. This greatly improves the tracking over traditional inflatables. The AdvancedFrame is fine for class 1 and 2 rivers, and durable enough for class 3, however it is really designed to paddle in a straight line, and therefore not recommended for rivers above class 3. When choosing a kayak for class 3 whitewater or greater, you really want a boat with a very rounded hull that will not grip on to the current, especially in eddys, like our Attack Whitewater Kayak. Unfortunately kayaks with very rounded hulls will not paddle very straight on flat water.

"We used our New kayak for the first time yesterday and it exceeded all expectations. Was enjoyed by our whole family including our 2 1/2 year old grandson. As planned it definitely will be coming with us whenever we go in our caravan. It is easy to inflate and deflate and easily packs away in supplied bag. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of purchasing an inflatable kayak to buy from Emily. The service was great."

Outstanding customer service and product

The website is great and Emily’s customer service is outstanding. Emily uses online capabilities to bring a very customer centred focus that is specific to you, including after the purchase. If you aren’t sure what to buy I recommend getting in touch with Emily through the website. Emily clearly uses the product and knows it well. I purchased the family pack and have used everything except the cart - I can get close enough to the shore and can carry the kayak but good to have the cart for when a need arises. The kayak is easy to pump up and I got on the water faster than someone with a tinnie. Easy to wipe down and pack up. Hard shell kayaks around me on the water but I don’t think they can kick back and put their feet up if they want to in the same way you can in the inflatable. Very comfy for paddling and kicking back to enjoy the surrounds.

So easy!

Emily was fantastic in helping to choose our kayak. We are a travelling couple, so needed it sent to a post office in remote WA, all arrived well packed and safe. First pump up was easy after reading the clear instructions. My partner and I are no lightweights, but the kayak handled well but we had some trouble with tracking until we sorted out the correct weight distribution with Emily’s email advice ( hint: best if heavier person is in the back!). It also works beautifully in the single paddler configuration. Deflation and pack up was easier than expected too... got it back in the bag first go! My only negative comment would be that the pump up thwart doesn’t really stay velcroed in place properly and that the double action hand pump quality could be better, the hose and fittings feel a bit flimsy. Overall we are extremely happy with our purchase 😊

Kayaking fun without needing to buy a new car

I’ve wanted a kayak for years but could never justify a new car or the hassle of roof racks that I would need to transport a regular hard shell kayak. I’m kicking myself that I didn’t discover this earlier. I’ve been super happy with with my advanced elements convertible and it’s certainly a massive improvement over the plastic rentals I’ve used in the past. It can be set up in about 15 minutes, a little bit of care is required to ensure all the parts are aligned as you inflate but it’s quite easy. In the three months that we’ve undertaken remote day trips on lakes in the high country, paddled on alpine streams and taken it out into Port Philip bay. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how it handles, it's faster and tracks better than plastic rentals. Also it’s tough – we’ve hit submerged trees on a lake with minor cosmetic marks to the hull the only impact. It also requires very little water to float which makes it great in alpine streams or at the beach. It’s become my go to recreation this summer, so much so that my bike is starting to feel a bit neglected. I thoroughly recommend.

First time I used it - couldn't be easier!

We took the Kayak on a road trip and found a lovely lake to try it out for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and quickly I inflated it and we were on the water within minutes of unpacking it. The kayak is made of a high quality and durable material and the whole thing felt premium and sturdy once inflated. My wife and children also used it and had a great time. Deflating was also straight-forward and we were off the water and in the car again very quickly. I would also commend the service Emily and team provided; very responsive and extremely knowledgeable about all of their products, I wouldn't hesitate to but from them again.

Kayaking at Jervis Bay

The convertible kayak is easy to set up and provides a stable and comfortable ride, even in choppy, windy conditions. The electric pump suggested by Emily saves time and effort as you can prepare paddles, fit seats while the kayak is inflating. If you are regularly paddling in rough conditions, would recommend adding the deep stitch floor for added stiffness and control. Packing down is quick, however once back at home allow extra time to rinse (5mins) and dry (depends on weather) kayak after use. Emily was very prompt with responses. There was a slight delay (2 days) with delivery, due to incorrect address, however a call to delivery company got things back on track. Overall, enjoying kayaking with the family to explore Jervis Bay.

Advanced Frame Kayak

Pumped up and ready to launch on the Murray River in SA in about 30 minutes. Went out in the backwaters and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxation and ease of movement through the water. Drop stitch floor was easy to install and the Kayak cart made it a breeze to get from campsite to waters edge. Looking forward to my next outing in the months to come

Advancedframe Convertible Inflatable Kayak

I used this kayak on the Noosa River several times during my recent stay at Noosa River Caravan Park. I used it for general kayaking upstream and downstream and also for fishing. The kayak was very stable and reasonably easy to paddle with current and against current. It retained its line well with two paddlers, although sometimes against the current it was inclined to pull to the right and more difficult to retain its line. I found it a little difficult to get the legs in and out under the front bow cover. Portability was good as I was able to store the kayak in my caravan and found it relatively easy to inflate and deflate and pack away. It took time to dry it out between the outer cover and the inner bellows left and right on return from trip, so it can be stored dry for a couple of months.

AdvancedFrame convertible kayak in South America

Hi Emily, Earlier this year I bought an AdvancedFrame convertible kayak from you. As planed we are now in South America in a 4x4 camper (Earth Cruiser) built in Queensland. Our Kayak has been out of its locker a few times now. I am sending some photos of two places we have used the Kayak. One place is of the floating islands in Lake Titicaca, Peru and the other is at Laguna Sura Sacaat at 4400m altitude (Our highest paddle so far.) It is in the Raura mountain range in Peru. We are enjoying the kayak and finding it very easy to paddle. Anneshka B.

Hope you are enjoying the AdvancedFrame Convertible?

Thanks Emily, Sent you some pics of the kayak loaded up for our overnight camp. I was concerned that it would be unstable but it was steady as a rock even without anyone in it... go figure. Cheers, Greg

Extremely comfortable and maneouvers well in both light and heavy winds

I purchased the Kayak just before Christmas and have only just had a chance to use it when my partner and i took it out for 3 hours on lake Jindabyne. The Kayak is actually very easy to inflate and re-pack, but there are a few knacks. We chose to do a trial inside to get used to everything in advance and I would recommend this. Watching a You Tube video certainly helped with the re-packing which we hadn't really thought of when taking the Kayak out of the bag. We had a few issues with the floor deflating on the trial, but had no such issues in Jindabyne. The Kayak is extremely comfortable and maneuvers well in both light and heavy winds which we experienced on the day. The design is very well thought out and the Kayak appears to be well made. I can't wait to use it again, hopefully this weekend weather permitting! Nick Wood.

Greg, I'd love your opinion on the AdvancedFrame Convertible

Hello Emily, We enjoyed fun times with the kayak over the last week in both the Stanley River below Somerset Dam and Lake Wivenhoe in the vicinity of the Lumley Hill campsite. We're very pleased with the kayak and our purchase. I've attached a photo of Ailsa fully enjoying her first solo. Regards, Greg

Give me some feedback on the convertible when you have had a go

Hi Emily, So 2 voyages so far. The first trip to test out nearby in a local harbour. All went well and even though the wind wasblowing hard we were still easily able to push through it in a straight line and then manoeuvre where we needed to. The second voyage was straight into a sea inlet on the south coast of WA at Walpole. First day went well and with a roughcrossing back to the campsite dipping in between the waves all was well. The kayak is incredibly stable and even with the waves splashing over us we didn't take on too much water. We did have the optional zip in deck attached which is very useful and don't think we would go out without it. Gives some good storage space and saves a lot of water entering the kayak. We even managed to get the sail up and sail back into the campsite after a tough crossing over the sea inlet. Great way to end the day. Sit back and let the sail do the work. On our second day in Walpole we crossed the sea inlet again into strong wind and entered the river. We made progressfor a few hours until our arms gave up and had to turn around. This time we had the wind behind us all the way so managed to get a good run back with the sail which again we were so pleased we purchased with the kayak. She will be out again this coming weekend so looking forward to it. Richard.

Feedback on Kayak Tours Norfolk Island

Hi Emily, Just thought we might give you an update on how we are going with the kayaks! We have been running 'Coastal Kayaking' on Norfolk Island since November, and we just love the kayaks. They are really safe and stable, and easy to use. Not to mention fun. Please check out our face book page 'Advance fishing and Kayaking'. Hope your married life is going well. All the best, Darren

An advantage over hard shells is its comfort when sitting in it and its stability

A lot of thought and attention has gone into the Advanced Elements Convertible kayak. Oz inflatable kayaks are clearly proud of the product too and the customer service and advice that Emily gave couldn't be better. Delivery was very fast. The kayak stores in a suit case sized hold-all and set-up after a couple of practices was surprisingly fast with the efficient double action pump. It handled brilliantly in the water and is really the perfect compromise kayak. It tracked perfectly in a mild breeze and I doubt it would have any more trouble than a hard shell in stronger winds. I think the weight of the kayak actually helps in this and certainly gives it some momentum in the water. It was easy to manoeuvre around rocks and reefs when close to shore. An advantage over hard shells is its comfort when sitting in it and its stability. We jumped off for a snorkel and climbed back in with no difficulty. All in all, a fantastic kayak and highly recommended.
