Kayaking on Lake Baroon

Whilst staying in Maleny (Sunshine Coast hinterland), we decided to go kayaking on Lake Baroon. Otherwise known as Baroon Pocket dam.

Jacob and I took the AdvancedFrame Convertible Elite Kayak, with Mia in the middle, taking it easy under the umbrella. It was quite a hot day, so she appreciated the shade.

We launched at the boat ramp, which is at the southern end of the lake. There is parking, picnic tables, a swimming area and toilets available.

Lake Baroon is quite small, and there was a picnic area across the other side near the dam wall, so we decided to head over there.

The grandparents are visible in the background, paddling the AdvancedFrame Sport kayak and the AirVolution kayak (with Leo in the front).

It was such a lovely warm day, we decided to have a swim!

The new AirVolution kayak is full drop-stitch, so the rigidity is excellent, even with a grandson sitting in the cockpit.

Overall, it was a wonderful day, and I would DEFINITELY recommend kayaking at Lake Baroon.

The scenery is beautiful, the facilities are excellent and it felt very private, given that it’s a small lake and we were the only ones on it!

The AdvancedFrame Convertible Elite Kayak is perfect for us because:

  • It’s easy to paddle straight as it has an Aluminum Rib Frame Design.
  • It has the best speed, tracking and stability.
  • It has plenty of leg room with a capacity of 249kg.
  • The high-backed seat with lumbar support is very comfortable and supportive
  • It’s very durable – I didn’t have to worry about submerged obstacles in creeks
  • It’s quick and easy to set-up and pack away.
  • It has room for the kids.
